At Camp ASCCA, people are people

Erin brought an article to my attention and I thought it was something that needed to be addressed. So many people are overlooked because they have a disability. This article from The Pitt News illustrates how having a disability should not count a person out. By working at Camp ASCCA, I understand this completely. I see campers every week who amaze the staff with their accomplishments.
A person here at camp has no limitations or restrictions. We create a barrier-free environment. In the article, Mark Nordenbeg mentions that “eliminating obstacles ought to be a national and international priority.â€
Here at Camp ASCCA, it’s our business to eliminate obstacles. One thing is understood at camp, people are people. Some people are short, some people are tall, some skinny and some big, and some have a disability — but that still makes them a person. Everyone should understand that a disability is how someone is created and they shouldn’t be treated any differently because of something they have no control over.
Hopefully, one day people will be viewed as people and not noticed for their disability.

That article is so very True..I agree 100%. They should be viewed the same way as me and you are.
You know I was reading this article, and their is nothing that bugs me more then for someone to look at me or what I call (talk down) to me. just because I may look different to them. I look at it this way we are all Gods children. I was just created different. People should quit looking at what’s on the outside on look at from the in side.
