Well, today kicks off Fun Fish weekend! Campers and volunteers started arriving today late in the afternoon. The volunteers and counselors always arrive a little earlier than the campers, just to have a little meeting and get everything together before the campers arrive. Looks like we’ll have a good, full weekend with 24 campers and 19 volunteers.
Registration took a little while, but once we got everyone settled, everyone headed to the mess hall for dinner.
Dana headed out for a little bit this afternoon to chat with people. One of the weekend’s counselors, Nathan McNair, said he has two male campers and is expecting them to “really enjoy the boating part of the weekend and of course to catch a lot of fish!”
Christopher Butler from Higden, Ala., said “HE’S GOING TO FISH!!!” He also said he’s “looking forward to fishing and he’s hoping to catch more fish than last year”. Dana asked him how he did last year and he said “I caught 45 last year and came in third! Can you believe that……THIRD! I wonder how many more than 45 someone caught last year!” He said he’s going to “try hard to catch more!”
So far, the weather has been clear and sunny … but cold! We hope it’ll be good fishing conditions for the rest of the weekend, but the forecast indicates it’ll probably stay pretty chilly. (Nothing a warm jacket can’t fix!) I know our campers are looking forward to being out in the boats catching fish, so hopefully, the weather will cooperate.
