Global Water Watch Group Visits from Central and South America

Thursday the Global Water Watch Group visited Camp ASCCA to tour the Dunn Environmental Center. Tom Collier, a staff member here at camp, was their tour guide. The group consisted of 16 people from six different countries, mainly Mexico and South American countries. These individuals were taking a course through Auburn University taught by Bill Deutsch and Bryan Duncan, two professors there. The group has been traveling throughout the state of Alabama studying living streams and wetlands. TheBill Deutsch program focuses on water protection and watershed management. In the picture, Bill Deutsch is speaking with one of the program students.

These visitors learned about Camp ASCCA’s environmental education programs. Local schools visit the environmental center to learn more about Alabama’s environment, particularly its waters. This kind of information is also taught through day camps. Many of the members of the Global Water Watch group have a focus in environmental education.
