Meet our newest Counselor: Megan Killion

Last week the counselors had orientation. They all got to know each other and be trained in how to handle almost every situation that could occur.

This week, a new counselor comes to us. It’s her first year at ASCCA and had to jump right in to camp. No get-to-know-you games, no wheelchair 101. But Megan Killion has grown up with a sister who has been coming to camp for years. And this year, Megan did too.

It was those years of experience, already understanding and providing care to someone with a disability, that allowed Megan to be able to step into her role. Our Head Counselors, Unit Leaders and Program Staff will work with Megan over the coming weeks to assure she’s at home and feels comfortable knowing all of the services - recreational and medical - ASCCA has at her disposal.

We are fortunate that many of our counselors, over the years, have come from such backgrounds rich with exeperience. Each carries that love and care into their service as counselors and program staff at Camp ASCCA for other children and adults.

The video below is of my interview with Megan. It is 1:07 and 2 MB.
