Note from Editor: I just noticed that this post’s video represents the 300th multimedia file we have posted on the ASCCA Journal since we started this blog. Many thanks to Alpha Chi Omega for being the 300th.
This weekend, ASCCA is happy to welcome the 2006 Fall Initiates of Alpha Chi Omega at Auburn University. I was so pleased to find that two students - Kristin Hill and Courtney Moore - I have had the pleasure to work with at Auburn are the ones that planned this retreat.
For the record, I promise I didn’t twist their arms to choose ASCCA. I just learned that they were coming last week.
We are very grateful to Alpha Chi Omega. They have done work projects for ASCCA in the past. They are a great group and a credit to Auburn University. Courtney (left) and Kristin (right) are in the video interview and are pictured below.
Overall, this retreat will bring about 150 young women to ASCCA for an educational, planning and “get to know you” retreat. They are also being “reverse-mainstreamed” in our barrier free facility.
When I heard of the event, I knew I wanted to drive up to ASCCA for a few minutes to interview these special ladies. So, enjoy the video with Kristin and Courtney as they talk about why they’re having this retreat at Camp ASCCA.
Each non-disabled group that uses camp during our down times actually helps us cover costs and assures we may continue to serve more children and adults with disabilities. Perhaps your group - greek life, church group, civic group, any group - might like to have a retreat at ASCCA, too. Our camp is easily accessible in east central Alabama on Lake Martin.
And remember, ASCCA operates year-round. This week we have yet another disabled group coming to ASCCA. There are dates available for retreats this year. With our many cabins and lodges, and two camp sites to choose from - Jackson’s Gap and Dadeville/Still Waters - we can probably work your group in, too. Call 1-800 THE CAMP (in Alabama) or 1-256-825-9226 for more information.
The video is 3:14 in length and a 5.2 mb download.
