So, What Have We Done Since Launching Our Site

For the past 7 months, ASCCA has been posting a great deal of information online. The vast majority of that content has gone up online in the past 3 months.

…almost 300 multimedia files have been viewed over 13,000 times… and about 8,500 photos have been viewed over 82,000 times…

So, it seems like we are due for an update on what we’ve been doing.

The site now has 80,700 links mentioning “Camp ASCCA” in Google. That’s way up from the approximately 50,000 before we started. Yahoo! has 48,900 links mentioning “Camp ASCCA” and that is up, too. But, the inbound links of other bloggers is nowhere near the level I would like it to be. My feeling is that (1) we have a respectable site sharing valuable information and (2) we are the only social media disability site - at least of this magnitude - posting such dynamic content and with such frequency (almost daily). So, I feel writing to people for critiques is justifiable.

The Google Page Rank for our site is a respectable 5. The Page Rank for our blog is still at 3. I think that will rise the next time Google makes changes, but nothing is assured. We do need to start getting more links to the site and that is a project we have coming up this Fall. I am not a big fan of writing to people and asking for links, but I believe I will start writing to people and ask them to critique our site. Perhaps they will write about it.

Technorati Chart People are starting to write about us in other blogs and sites. The graph below shows that almost every day Camp ASCCA is mentioned in some posts. I’ll admit that many of those are ours, but you can find others writing about us, too. Still, we have a way to go. The chart to the right, from Technorati, tracks posts that contain ASCCA per day for the last 30 days.

Currently, at Technorati, we are ranked at 65,140 out of the 51.6 million blogs they track. That ranking is from our 177 links from 40 blogs and places us in the top .001 percent of all blogs. Still, considering our posting frequency and the multimedia we are using, I believe we can climb higher. Just imagine how high we can climb if we get more blogs linking to us. Do you have a blog? Will you write about Camp ASCCA? Links help us reach more people, so - if you’re willing to help - we will be grateful. Critique the site. Tell us what we can do better.
We will begin posting with our new student intern on Tuesday. Over the coming weeks, look for other announcements about our plans to expand the site’s reach.

Thank you for visiting and supporting Camp ASCCA online.
