Team Building can be Fun

Everyone knows the embarassing feeling of being the new person at work. All the other employees know each other and you’re outside their circle. Wouldn’t it be great if you had an opportunity to socialize with all those people in a non-work environment?

…working as a team, instead of as individuals, makes it much easier to overcome an obstacle…

Camp ASCCA can provide just that opportunity. Leadership Lee County visited our challenge course for an afternoon of fun and team building. When they arrived they were a busload of strangers, by the end of the day they were a busload of friends.

Leadership Lee County is a group comprised of Lee County citizens with jobs ranging from banker to medical personnel. The group works to improve the leadership potential of their community. Amy Himmelwright headed up the group and organized their visit to Camp ASCCA.

The group began their day with a personality test and then after lunch embarked on their team building journey. A few ice-breaking games in the gym helped the group learn each others names, and then they divided in half and headed to the challenge course. They participated in several group elements such as: the magic trolleys, the log, the spider’s web, Nitro’s crossing, and the wall.

These activities focus on teamwork, communication, and a little bit of strategy. Each group element shows you how working as a team, instead of as individuals, makes it much easier to overcome an obstacle. Afterwards, the groups are de-briefed on their experience during the activity. This gives the team members an opportunity to reflect on what they accomplished and to express their thoughts on what caused the most problems and how they overcame those situations.

Below is a slideshow of Leadership Lee County as they experience the group elements. It is 3:25 in length and is a 4.4 mb download.
