Camper Caught Working

Guess who Matt and I caught working this past weekend? Camper Carmine Vara!

Matt, our kids, Matt’s mother, and I all visited Stone Mountain in Georgia this past weekend for the fall Pumpkin Festival. As we entered the gates, Carmine was sitting there greeting visitors and giving out park maps.

Carmine is a resident of the Atlanta area and has enjoyed his job at Stone Mountain. It was a beautiful fall day and it was a great beginning to our day to “catch up” with Carmine and talk about Camp ASCCA for a few minutes. He asked about how everone was, how the weekend sessions have been, and seemed to be extremely happy to see some camp folks!

Camp ASCCA, for many campers, is a special place that has a positive impact on their lives year-round. I fully believe that the accessible recreation, peer-support, counselor-camper friendships, and educational benefits of Camp ASCCA that a camper experiences each summer affects their day-to-day lives the rest of the year.

Matt and I said goodbye to Carmine, gave hugs, and on departing, Carmine gave us a map (he was still working of course)!
