Visitors From Tuscaloosa

Camp ASCCA had a first time visitor this past weekend. The Gamma Phi Beta sorority from the University of Alabama came to camp for a weekend retreat. The girls enjoyed some recreation on the low ropes course, as well as some rest and relaxation here on beautiful Lake Martin.

As it turns out, this group of ladies came to Camp ASCCA as a last minute reservation. We had the extra room, and so were happy to accomodate. The kitchen staff was notified that we would be having a few extra guests for meals on Saturday and Mrs. Gaye assured us she could cover it. The girls arrived late Friday night and joined us for breakfast the next morning. Nathan and Barclay took the group through the low rope course on Saturday afternoon.

Since the majority of the group had never been to Camp ASCCA before, they were full of questions. Someone asked if we had bears that lived nearby. While yet another wanted to be assured that axe wielding boogeymen wouldn’t show up. I assured them that Camp ASCCA was a perfectly safe place and they could sleep peacefully. The scariest creatures of the night around here are armadillos. You can walk right up on one without knowing it, they make quite a startling racket when they jump and run.

All in all I think the ladies had a relaxing time here at camp and we hope to see them again someday.
