Alabama’s Special Camp for Children & Adults

Women’s Weekend

This past weekend was filled with fellowship, fun, and sisterhood. We had two groups rent our facilities, Philadelphia Baptist women’s group and Epsilon Sigma Alpha.

The weekend started with Philadelphia arriving on Friday. This group is no stranger to camp. They are regulars every year, while ESA is new to Camp ASCCA. The Philadelphia ladies were looking for an enjoyable getaway to worship. They used the Oscar C. Dunn Environmental Center for the majority of their time. They were able to use our theater room for singing, group discussion, and much more.

Saturday afternoon the women of Epsilon Sigma Alpha arrived on camp grounds. The reason for their visit was to hold their regional meeting. Ladies from across the state made the trip to be with fellow sisters from other chapters. Their night began with homemade chili cooked by the women themselves. After dinner the group roasted marshmallows at camp fire hill.

Sunday was the official regional meeting. The gathering was held in the basement of The Lion’s/Rotary Lodge. I was privileged to speak to the organization during their meeting about Camp ASCCA. It was great to see a group genuinely interested in knowing more about ASCCA and how they can help. Several members of the group mentioned that they have sponsored campers in the past and many of the others are now interested in helping campers get to camp. I could tell the ladies were touched by the Camp ASCCA story.

It was a great weekend for both groups. We look forward to seeing Philadelphia Baptist and Epsilon Sigma Alpha again in the future.
