Lee-Scott Academy :: Human Knot and Spider Web - Team Building Games

Our week and weekend school camps always seem to enjoy the field games and low element ropes course games designed to encourage team building.

…Lee-Scott’s sixth grade visited Camp ASCCA for three days and had a lot of fun…

I want you to know, this group of sixth graders from Lee-Scott exhibited some terrific teamwork character. Seriously, I remarked to teachers and parents alike that the students seemed so genuinely interested in their classmates. It was quite nice to witness, actually. So, kudos to the Lee-Scott faculty and parents - along with their students.

Lee Scott Logo PhotoWatching the students tells you that Lee-Scott is developing a truly positive environment for their students. It showed in the students’ interaction with one another.

In this video, Heather is leading the students in the “Human Knot.” In this game, students stand in a circle and reach across linking hands. Then,  they try to untie the knot.

In this particular game, the group had just untied themselves from a knot with all the boys and girls. Next, they split into boy/girl groups and tried to see who could do it the quickest. Um, the girls were quite … speedy.

In the second part of the video, you’ll see the end of their Spider Web game. Then, you’ll get to hear the discussion and learning that occurs. Nathan guides the students through their own review of what worked and what they can apply to future team efforts.

This video is a 6.7 MB download and lasts 4:06 minutes. Enjoy.
