Dean Road School Day Camp :: Teacher Ann Mathews

Each year, Dean Road School in Auburn visits ASCCA for day camps. This year, the third and fifth graders made the trip.

…from salamanders to flying down the zipline, Dean Road students, their parents and teachers embraced the challenges this year…

Group team building adventures on our ropes course are combined with nature experiences in the Living Streams program and orienteering with GPS devices. There are other activities, too. The students always seem to enjoy their visits.

Earlier this spring, we had a chance to speak with Ann Mathews while the students were climbing the zipline tower.

These camps are a favorite activity of ours. Why? Because we get to see the student encouraging one another. It is continually amazing to see the maturity and kindness the students exhibit toward one another when they are tackling the obstacles at the ropes course. It is also rewarding to see the parents watching their children undertake these activities. We see a lot of smiles.

Another positive aspect of these day camps is how the teachers plan class activities around the nature programs we offer so that the day camp experiences will reinforce and enhance their class activities.  So, visiting ASCCA is an extension of the classroom experience.

So, when is your child’s class going to make the trek to Camp ASCCA? Ask your teacher to call Matt Rickman at 1-256-825-9226 to learn about how you may experience a day camp at ASCCA for the next school year. In Alabama, you may call us toll free at 1-800 THE CAMP, or 1-800-843-2267.
