Ashford and Rehobeth Schools Say Farewell to One of Their Favorite ASCCA Staff Members

Camp ASCCA has special relationships with many people and organizations, and one of the most cherished is that with the Ashford and Rehobeth Schools and Dr. Michael Hall from University of North Alabama (UNA). At the beginning of each summer, the program staff and administrators await the fun this group brings for their four day visit. This year, however, the special education classes and their teachers had a surprise for a very special member of the Camp ASCCA staff.

This summer will be the last that Mrs. Gay, our kitchen director, spends at camp. In their annual visits, Mrs. Gay has been a recurring and familiar face for the two schools. Wanting to wish her a warm farewell and express their gratitude for the many meals she has prepared for them, Dr. Hall and the students presented Mrs. Gay with a hand-painted birdhouse and an “angel of the kitchen” figurine. One of the first things that everyone learns about Mrs. Gay is that she is a diligent worker. Hopefully these two gifts will help her relax in her retirement and remind her how much she is loved at Camp ASCCA!
