Camp ASCCA’s very busy spring schedule of environmental programs continued with the arrival of 169 3rd graders from Beauregard Elementary in Lee County. The students were divided into 5 separate day camps spanning from April 30 to May 4.
Beauregard has been sending their entire 3rd grade class to ASCCA for several years now and for many students it is their first exposure to environmental education programs. All the students were treated to an exploration of the Dunn Environmental Center that included a “hands on” activity called the “Web of Life”. This activity explains the difference between a “food chain” and a “food web” and how all things in nature are inter-related.
An informative nature walk learning about tree identification and wetlands was another activity. Lastly, the students all had the opportunity to do a strictly fun and confidence building activity, the ever popular zip line. See for yourself how much fun and learning everyone had in these photos!
