An Interview with Barclay Bentley

This summer will be Barclay Bentley’s third at Camp ASCCA, and it certainly won’t be his last. A self-proclaimed “jack-of-all-trades,” Barclay has been a member of the Program Staff, a PR Intern, and helped with plenty of seasonal programs. At the end of this summer, he will join the full-time staff as kitchen director.

…Barclay says that he
worked for one summer and just hasn’t been able to leave since…

Barclay first heard about Camp ASCCA from his good friend Nathan Waters, the Camp Director of our Dadeville Campus and High Adventure Director at Jackson’s Gap. Barclay says that he worked for one summer and just hasn’t been able to leave since.

So far this summer, Barclay has been helping out with the Adventure programs. When the regular ASCCA sessions start, however, he will begin his training in the kitchen under Mrs. Gay. He says that he is a little concerned that he will have less interaction with the campers, and he plans to fit in some time to help in the cabins and at various programs!

You can read some of Barclay’s blog posts by searching his name on our Google search, and you can also hear him talk about some of his camp experiences on the video below!
