This past Friday night, Dana Rickman and I had the pleasure of representing Camp ASCCA at the World Championship Domino Tournament and raffle dinner in Andalusia. These concurrent events are put on by the Andalusia Rotary Club with proceeds going into the club’s foundation for disbursement
to local charities and Camp ASCCA.
With over 200 people in attendance Dana and I showed the group the Camp ASCCA video during a break in the tournament and dinner. Dana explained to them that their participation benefited many nonprofit organizations, including Camp ASCCA. At the conclusion of the video I was
able to introduce J.J. Seice to the group. J.J. is from the Andalusia area and a long time camper favorite at ASCCA. Tim Bryan, incoming President of the Andalusia Rotary Club, presented J.J. with a check for $425 to complete his funding for a week-long campership this summer. The other portion was provided by the Andalusia Pilot Club. J.J. was very excited and through his communication board, told the group “thank you†and that he especially enjoyed the zip line and tower at camp. He then presented the check back to Camp.
Dana and I had a great time and look forward to visits in the future. The Rotary Club members were great hosts and obviously do a tremendous service through their support of many charities. Camp has a very close tie to this community through individuals such as
club members Dr. Jim Krudop, past chair at Camp, Shannon Gooden, past staff member at Camp, and long-time supporter, Mr. George Proctor. Club member Greg Henderson also has close ties to camp as he is current Board Chairman of Easter Seals Alabama, Inc.
Did you know that Camp ASCCA is in Facebook? If you are too, please go on over and “Friend” Camp ASCCA and join the Camp ASCCA Facebook group, too.
