Camp ASCCA Journal - Therapeutic Recreation

Last week Camp ASCCA had many visitors, one of them was Dale Glover. Ms. Glover is not only a huge fan of Camp ASCCA but she is serving as the board’s secretary.

…”It is amazing to me how loving,sweet, and kind the counselors are to the campers”…

A member of Ms. Glovers church introduced her to Camp ASCCA,  he brought her to camp to visit and she fell in love with camp, she liked to see how much camp meant to the campers and  their parents. She has been involved with camp for six or seven years and this year is her second year as a board member.

Her favorite part of camp is watching the campers interact with their counselors, she said “it’s amazing to me how loving, sweet, and kind the counselors are to the campers.” She thinks camp is good because it gives campers a chance to be around others with disabilities and they can share with each other.

Ms. Glover had the chance to watch our sports campers participate in sit skiing, she has watched it before but never with campers that were as young as some of the sports campers and she thought it was wonderful. She brought a friend with her who had been to camp several years ago on a church retreat but wanted to come and see what camp was like when campers were enjoying it.  She wanted to encourage people to get involved with Camp ASCCA.
