Kivi Leroux Miller’s Nonprofit Communications Blog

Kivi Leroux Miller’s Nonprofit Communications blog drew the Camp ASCCA assignment for this session of the Nonprofit Blog Exchange Virtual Event. Luckily, we got the assignment for Kivi’s blog, too.

Emily at the Nonprofit Blog Exchange assigned the Camp ASCCA Journal to Kivi as part of the event.

Kivi Leroux MillerKivi was excited because she already knew about us. About a year ago, Kivi contacted us seeking to included Camp ASCCA’s site as a good example of how nonprofits can use blogs. She did so in her Blogging for Nonprofits course in December 2006 through Duke University’s certificate program in nonprofit management. We are grateful to Kivi for including us.

You can read Kivi’s insights about our blog efforts in her post - Why I Like the Camp ASCCA Blog. She has some wonderful ideas for how we might improve the site, too. What do you think about her ideas?

Now, here is what I like so much about Kivi’s sites. Yep, that’s right - sites. She has many of them.

She runs the gamut with regard to online nonprofit marketing communications. Read the sites and you’ll find wise sage advice, to be sure. And, she doesn’t stop there. Kivi also shares a variety of tips for those in the nonprofit world. She has a decided emphasis on writing skills, too.

She keeps up with new software and other opportunities, too. I learned about Shozam, the Web Gallery Generator, from her blog post on My Favorite Tool for Online Photo Galleries.

Kivi has a strong interest in writing, so you’re sure to find great ways to improve the writing in your site. An example would be the post - 10 Ways to Use Storytelling in Your Nonprofit. Very good information there. Check it out.

Kivi does offer insight into her life and background. That was one of the critiques she offered about the ASCCA Journal with regard to our authors - those writing the site. I agree with her sentiments and we’ll be seeking to get the ASCCA staff more comfortable with writing about their own jobs and activities, too.

It was a pleasure to get to review Kivi’s site. I continue to follow her writing and you can to by subscribing to Kivi’s RSS Feed. You should follow her, too.

Did you know that Camp ASCCA is in Facebook? If you are too, please go on over and “Friend” Camp ASCCA and join the Camp ASCCA Facebook group, too.

Thanks for the kind words! As you know, I am a big fan and just today was showing a prospective client your blog as an example of how they could incorporate more personal client and volunteer stories into their online communications. Keep up the great work!
