Drake Middle School Visits Camp ASCCA

Drake Middle School’s 6th Grade, from Auburn, visited Camp ASCCA October 1st – 4th (visit Drake’s website) . During that 4 day period, over 350 youth got to enjoyed such programs as zipline, nature, group elements, low ropes, and GPS and maps. Each program is designed to be both challenging and fun for people of all ages.

The Zipline gives people the chance to conquer their fears of heights by pulling themselves up to a 15 ft platform then riding a steel cable 150 feet down a hill. This by far was the most exciting activity and everyone seemed to have a really great time.

Nature gave the kids a chance to learn about all aspects of nature in our wonderful Dunn Environmental Center. The students then got to compete against each other to see who took the better notes in a rousing game of “Nature Jeopardy”.

In group elements and low ropes course, the students learn how to work together as a group to figure out problems. They learn teamwork and leadership skills. The GPS and maps activity gives the students skills in using a GPS unit to find areas around camp.

Drake Middle School students seemed to have an awesome time here at Camp ASCCA and we had a great time having them here too.
