Allison Wetherbee Returns To Camp ASCCA

She was a camper. She was a member of ASCCA’s staff. Now, Allison Wetherbee returns to Camp ASCCA.

Allison went on to become an accomplished counselor, even away from camp, earning a masters degree and building a long independent career helping others help themselves.

The Montgomery Advertiser just ran a story about Allison’s return.

She begins work today as public relations representative at Camp ASCCA.

If ever there were a perfect fit, this is it.

After all, from age 7 to 18, every summer –and every weekend she could get away –her home-away-from-home was ASCCA (Alabama’s Special Camp for Children and Adults), an open-year-round camp on Lake Martin for children and adults with all kinds of disabilities.

Wetherbee, 36, was born with no arms or legs. But as an ASCCA camper, she was able to go up into tree houses, play on the lake, and come to the life-altering realization that, even though she faced severe physical imitations, there were people whose disabilities were still more severe than her own.

We’re glad she’s back. Watch the video below to learn about Allison’s plans for the future.

If you would like to book Allison to speak to your group or ogranization … even a class at a university, please call us. In Alabama, the number is 1-800 THE CAMP (842-2267) or 256-825-9226.

Did you know that Camp ASCCA is in Facebook? If you are too, please go on over and “Friend” Camp ASCCA and join the Camp ASCCA Facebook group, too.
