16th Annual Fun Fish Weekend

orty anglers with disabilities from across the state came to Camp ASCCA this past weekend for our annu
al Fun Fish Weekend. The weekend is packed full of great fishing out on beautiful Lake Martin and at Camp’s stocked pond. The anglers were joined for the weekend by over 35 volunteer boaters eager and willing to give the anglers a great time out on the water.
The anglers and boaters started arriving Friday afternoon and were given a chance to mix and mingle with each other at dinner and camp fire Friday night. It was an early wake-up call Saturday morning so that the anglers could eat breakfast and get out on the water early. Eager faces greeted the boaters as they loaded up for the morning out on the water. Even the Auburn Fishing Team joined us for the day. The rain predicted for Saturday didn’t 
materialize and the anglers and boaters were given a beautiful sunny 
day out on the water. As the groups headed back in for lunch, the anglers were excited to show each other their morning catches.
After lunch, the anglers and boaters headed back out for an afternoon full of excitement on the water. Over 290 fish were caught just on Saturday alone. Dinner time was full of fish stories, especially about the “one that got away”. After dinner a local band entertained the anglers before they headed back to the cabins for an early bedtime.
The anglers and boaters were back up bright and early Sunday morning for the last f
ishing session of the weekend. After lunch we held the award ceremony to announce the winners of the tournament.
All the anglers had a marvelous time and we here at camp had a great time too. The volunteer boaters for the weekend were marvelous and the volunteer councilors as well as the staff did a great job. Thanks to all of you and I am looking forward to the 17th Annual Fun Fish already!
