Shepherd Center’s ASW 2008::An interview with Jennifer Lindquist
Spinal cord and head injury campers have a weekend of adventure recreation all to themselves during Shepherd Center’s Adventure Skills Workshop at Camp ASCCA. Participants and their families take the opportunity to explore outdoor activities ranging from water skiing to ziplining.
The weekend enables participants to continue doing activities they love after being newly injured and long after. Participants enjoy adapted activities such as quad rugby, canoeing, water skiing, tubing, ziplining, water polo, scuba diving and riflery.
Jennifer Lindquist, a participant from Wisconsin, was visiting camp for her second year. While attending the workshop, Jennifer took the opportunity to climb to the top of the zip tower among other activities. After a ride down the zipline, she shared the value of therapeutic recreation during a weekend like this for someone a little over a year into therapy.
