Alabama’s Special Camp for Children & Adults

Becoming One With the Campers

It all began Sunday at dinner. The Camp ASCCA Program Staff joined the dinner tables with the campers. We had our own
tables last week, but now we are becoming one with the campers.

We are getting to know the campers and Seale Harris staff and making friendships. We are involved with the campers at meal
time and mainly at the evening activity. I personally look forward to each meal and evening activity. I want to know
what the campers have been doing all day, what they enjoyed and what they may not have enjoyed.

Being a part of the meal helps the Seale Harris staff as well. We help clean up and give them a small break. The campers look
forward to seeing the Program Staff at the meals because it’s something different, a knew face they haven’t seen for most of the
day.

Sitting at the tables is also helpful to the Program Staff because soon ASCCA will start and things will be in full swing.
This week is helping us learn how to interact and be a part of the campers daily life. I can’t wait to see how the rest of the
week pans out for the camp and campers.

Seeing the campers throughout the day is great too! Most of the time the campers get excited and want to tell you what they’re
doing and how the day is going. We’ll see what tomorrow brings for Camp Seale Harris!

Camp ASCCA has a new site! ASCCA Friends. It is our own personal social media network. Also, did you know that Camp ASCCA is in Facebook? If you are too, please go on over and “Friend” Camp ASCCA and join the Camp ASCCA Facebook group, too.
