Montgomery Sunrise Rotary’s “Roast”
Rotary is a very important organization to Camp ASCCA. One of Rotary’s motto’s is “service above self”. The service that the Montgomery Sunrise Rotary Club and its members have given to others is incredible. Once
again, this Rotary Club has helped our campers.
On Friday, May 30, 2008, the Montgomery Sunrise Rotary Club held it annual fundraiser - the 4th Annual
Commitment to Service Award and Roast. This year the Roastee was Lynn Beshear of Montgomery. What a “sport” she was!
After enjoying a wonderful silent auction and steak dinner, Camp’s Director of Public Relations, Allison Wetherbee, presented a short video about camp, then spoke to the group about how important Camp ASCCA is to so many people with disabilities.
Then the “Roast” was on. Lynn Beshear sat patiently with a smile on her face as many friends and family members “roasted” her with funny, embarrassing, clever, and loving remarks. “Roasters” included Todd Strange,
Chairman of the Montgomery County Commission, Rev. Dr. Karl Stegall, The Honorable Steve Beshear, Governor of Kentucky, Mr. Tommie Miller, and Judge Lynn Bright, the First Lady of Montgomery.
