Alabama’s Special Camp for Children & Adults

Canoeing at Camp ASCCA

This morning young campers were able to experience the joy of canoeing.img_2366a.jpg Each canoe had a Camp Seale Harris counselor sitting in the back, a camper in the middle and one in the front.

The ride would last only a few minutes around the slough, but the children loved their trip. As soon as they got out of the canoe they would each ask if they could go for another ride. They enjoyed being out on the lake paddling and splashing. While the campers are on the Canoe they can feel like they are img_2362a.jpgworking to get somewhere. The counselors are making sure the campers do not steer the canoe into another canoe or anything else.

Some children like to sit and ride in the middle. While others like to paddle more and take a different faster route than the rest. All campers wear life jackets and wait for a canoe to come available so they can ride.

I spoke with a young girl who rode in a canoe for the first time today. She was excited to have been on the canoe. She told me that she would recommend everyone to come experience the canoeing activity offered at Camp ASCCA.
