Alabama’s Special Camp for Children & Adults

Welcome Amanda Floyd!

Amanda is a current counselor at Camp Seale Harris, a camp for people with diabetes. This is her first year as a counselor, she was a CIT for the past two summers.

Camp ASCCA is very excited because Amanda will be joining the counseling staff once she is finished with Camp Seale Harris. Amanda first visited Camp ASCCA lastAmanda with her Cabin summer with her church. She helped decorate for Teen Week’s Prom and immediately fell in love with the campers.

Amanda enjoys being a counselor because she know that campers come to feel included and to have a week of just plain fun.

Amanda believes that working with Seale Harris will prepare her for ASCCA. It will show her how the schedule works, the different activities, and what her duties will be.

Amanda is a Special Education major at the University of Alabama. She believes that her work with Seale Harris and ASCCA will help prepare her for her future by teaching her how about disabilities, how to handle certain situations, and leadership skills.

Check out Amanda’s interview below, and help us welcome her to the ASCCA staff!
