Camp ASCCA’s new Director of Public Relations, Allison Wetherbee, is everywhere. Allison was recently hired back in November and she has been on the road just about ever since. Allison has a very special connection to camp as she once was a camper herself.
Today I had the pleasure of going with Allison to speak to the Woman’s group of First Baptist Church, Alexander City as well as the Alexander City Rotary Club. Allison is always a delighted guest as people are always so interested to hear what is going on around camp. Allison however brings a more personal touch when she speaks because most of it she is telling from a personal experience. Allison started attending camp at the age of 7, born with no arms and legs camp allowed her to participate in any and every activity offered here at Camp with complete accessibility. Allison always enjoyed being able to get away from mom and dad for two weeks during the summer as well as several weekends during the year and come to camp and just have fun. She is truly an inspiration to us all as well as a perfect spokeswoman for Camp. Both groups today thoroughly enjoyed Allison and were very interested in coming to visit us in the near future.
