Alabama’s Special Camp for Children & Adults

Listen to Camp ASCCA Blog Posts

For a long time, we’ve had the Talkr link that allowed you to listen to blog posts.

Well, it seems to have been experiencing problems. So, welcome the new OdioGo button on every post and page. What does it do? Well, it allows us to “Create text-to-speech podcast from (Camp ASCCA’s) RSS feed with Odiogo for iPod, MP3 player and mobile phone.” Now, I ask you. How cool is that? :)

Odiogo’s media-shifting technology expands our site so you can listen to Camp ASCCA news!

It does take a few minutes for the post to show up as being available to be read by their server. So, it won’t necessarily work immediately on new posts. But, that’s OK.

You should just be able to click the button and have the post read to you. Be forewarned, it is new and we’re trying to make sure it reads the ‘full’ post. So, bear with us as we get that going.

Odiogo’s media-shifting technology expands the reach of your content: It transforms news sites and blog posts into high fidelity, near human quality audio files ready to download and play anywhere, anytime, on any device.

Now, they say that the service is ad supported. But, I have yet to hear any ads, except for their own plug about the service. Hey, it is free, so we can’t really complain about that. :)

We are grateful for these free tools. They make accessibility possible for sites that don’t have the funds to spend on the high end solutions to web publishing and making all readers - even those that are blind or visually impaired - able to enjoy our news.

Please share your thoughts on our new text-to-speech tool in the comments below.

Well, I’m hoping people will comment on this post. Ya’ know, we don’t get a lot of comments here, but we do have a lot of readers. So, please know that we want to hear from you - even if it is just to say hi! :)
