Horseback Training :: Transfers


Horseback is one of our campers favorite activities. So we strive have to make sure that they are safe while riding the horse and being transferred on and off of the horses.

Today the counselors got a first hand experience on how to life campers on the horse and safe techniques for themselves as well to insure that the campers are comfortable and safe as possible.

Geni Payne our Director of Environmental Education conducted the training informing the counselors of techniques and assisting them with practicing transferring each other to and from the horse. We even practice what to do in a situation where a rider is falling off. We cover every element to ensure complete safety in every possible situation while at Horseback.

Our horse, Honey, was very calm and patient as all of the counselors practices atleast once. With all of these trainings underway we are ready for next week as our Campers will be arriving on Sunday! You can see some of the training in this video below:
