“Camp opens your eyes” :: An interview with a veteran camper

Stephanie has been coming to Camp ASCCA for about a decade!! Stephanie enjoys coming to Camp ASCCA because it is something fun to do.

Of course, one of Stephanie’s favorite parts of camp is prom. However, she also likes the themed days that are a part of Teen Week. For instance, yesterday was Crazy Hat Day, and she had a hat made out of cardboard. Today, she was excited to dress tacky for Wacky Tacky Day. Stephanie also enjoys arts and crafts, tubing, and zipline.

She believes camp opens your eyes to everything you can do, and it gives you a chance to do summer activities like everyone else. It also lets her meet a variety of people. She said that the bond formed here between campers and counselors is special; something that cannot be taken away from Camp ASCCA.

Stephanie is very thankful for the staff and their diversity. She thinks the different backgrounds and the fact that some counselors have disabilities themselves is great.

“Just knowing that Camp ASCCA cares about the campers and about the staff and everything is great,” said Stephanie.

In her interview, Stephanie shares her favorite activities, why Camp ASCCA opens up horizons and the lessons learned here. She also discusses the great bonds formed at camp.
