Teen Week has arrived!!

Teen Week is one of Camp ASCCA’s most anticipated weeks during the summer. I have never seen more people to be so excited about each days theme and activities! Each day builds up to the much anticipated Prom Thursday evening.

Many of the campers have been coming to Camp ASCCA for many years, and will tell you exactly how much they love coming to camp and what it means to them to be able to come.

Ryan Mercer is one of those campers. He told me that coming to Camp ASCCA is like coming to heaven on Earth. Every time I see Ryan he has a smile across his face and is just enjoying the day and the people around him.

Ryan also gives back to the camp he loves so much. He has raised a considerable amount of money for camp and has even paid the way for other campers to come to camp.

The reason he said he keeps coming back to camp is because here at camp people see him and not his wheelchair. Ryan said he knows that does not happen very much in the real world, but at camp the individual is seen and not the disability.

Ryan has also made some great friends over the six years he has been coming to camp. He told me that is one of the best things about camp.
