Camp ASCCA is a lot more fun with Kathryn around!
Kathryn McMillan has returned to Camp ASCCA. This is Kathryn’s second summer as a counselor. Last year, Kathryn worked at both the Dadeville and Jackson’s Gap camps.
Kathryn actually found out about Camp ASCCA through the internet. Later, she discovered that her cousin attended sessions in the past.
Kathryn is a senior at Auburn University majoring in nursing. She thinks that her time at Camp ASCCA is valuable to her future in many ways. Not only does it allow her to apply the knowledge she has learned in her field, but it has taught her how to work as a team and how to work with different populations.
Kathryn enjoys Camp ASCCA because she gets to see the impact it has on the campers, and it’s a fun job.
“You get paid to play outside in the sunshine everyday of your life, and it’s just amazing,” said Kathryn.
She believes that camp helps campers gain self-esteem. It allows campers to enjoy themselves while socializing with other campers who have similar backgrounds.
Kathryn’s great sense of humor brings smiles to campers’ faces everywhere. Session 5 was her last session, and she will definitely be missed! Check out her interview here:
