Pond Management Update

Geni Payne and I have been making plans and discussing the many options for pond management at Camp ASCCA.  Upon the completion of the Camp ASCCA Golf and Yacht Club, we will have three ponds that we will be managing.

We are fortunate to have a person like Geni on staff. Her experience and contact with the Extension Service of Alabama is a great help to Camp ASCCA. Our goal with the “fishing pond” is to make it a healthy habitat that will produce excellent fishing for our campers. The two ponds at the golf and yacht location need to be kept clean and healthy as well for pond education and radio controlled boating.

In the upcoming weeks we will be constructing a natural filter system which will not only help manage water quality, but will also provide a great teaching tool for our outdoor education programs.
