Something You May Not Know :: Our Funding

That\'s what it takes for just the fees, to send 100 campers to ASCCA.As an Alabama Easter Seal facility, the Camp ASCCA staff and board are responsible for generating, locating and developing all needed funding for all expenses related to Camp ASCCA programs and facilities. Currently Camp ASCCA operates on $1.5 million dollars annually.

Camp ASCCA affiliates with Easter Seals. In return for our Easter Seal affiliation, Camp ASCCA is able utilize group discounts for facility and employee insurance and employee retirement plans offered through Easter Seals Alabama parent organization. However, we cover The costs are great, but the benefits are greater.the costs for all of our programs and activities. About 90% of the people attending Camp ASCCA require some help from us … well - actually, you … in covering their camp fees.

We serve thousands annually. This campaign is just designed to help us cover the fees for 100 campers. Have you priced a camp, lately? Camps for non-disabled children cost two to three times what we charge. So, as you can imagine, we’re just talking about the fees we charge - not the costs we actually face daily.

Camp ASCCA Mission

The Easter Seals Camp ASCCA mission is to help eligible individuals with disabilities and/or health impairments achieve equality, dignity, and maximum independence.

Camp ASCCA Goal

To accomplish our mission, our goal is provide a safe and quality program of camping, therapeutic recreation, and education in a year-round barrier-free environment. We strive to serve those who can derive maximum benefit from the resident camp experience and provide a healthier, happier, longer, and more productive life for children and adults of all abilities.

Camp ASCCA Programs

Opened in 1976, Camp ASCCA has modern, centrally heated and air conditioned buildings that accommodate up to 284 people. Program areas include the demonstration farm, environmental center, adventure area, nature trail, ballfield, horseback riding ring and trails, golf driving range, rifle range, lakefront, modern filtered swimming pool, an all-weather pavilion, and much, much more!. All of this is on 230 beautiful wooded acres with 1.5 miles of Lake Martin shoreline.

The philosophy of Camp ASCCA is to offer an exciting camp program geared to the age, interest, and ability of our campers. This involves learning new skills; making new friends; and participating in programs such as swimming, water skiing, tubing, canoeing, boating, fishing, arts and crafts, golf, nature appreciation, geocaching, horseback, bocce, riflery, and even high adventure activities such as climbing and rappelling. In addition to all of this, there are evening programs that include campfires, dances, and talent shows.

New this year, look for the fun wheelchair accessible water playground! The emphasis for the camp’s programs is in meeting the needs of each camper and utilizing ability and capability to enable each camper’s participation to their fullest potential!

ASCCA’s Goal

ASCCA History

Since 1975, services have been provided to more than 50,000 people with disabilities. During this time, thousands of individuals, clubs, companies and organizations have made the camp’s unique services available. We need your help to continue our legacy of service to people with disabilities.

How to Make A Donation to Camp ASCCA

In order to make the most efficient use of your contribution, we suggest that you either mail your check or call Camp ASCCA to make a donation using your credit card (Visa or MasterCard).

Camp ASCCA also accepts gifts-in-kind, and real property, stocks, bonds and other items of value. Camp ASCCA is a 501(c)3 organization and all gifts are tax deductible.

You may designate your gift for a campership, our endowment fund, or any of our ongoing capital improvement projects which are further explained below in Project Renew.

Unique Educational Programming

Camp ASCCA will also accent “reverse mainstreaming” by including non-disabled persons with disabled persons in the resident camping experience to facilitate the sharing of information and programs of advocacy. Camper Sponsorships

You might wish to sponsor a camper. Here are the weekly Summer fees:

  • Fee for One Week CAMP ASCCA Jackson’s Gap: $675 (includes $50 app. fee)
  • Fee for One Week CAMP ASCCA Dadeville: $575 (includes $50 app. fee)

High Adventure
