APAC at ASCCA!

Alabama Pre/Post Adoption Connections (APAC) is a collaborative effort between the Children’s Aid Society and the Alabama Department of Human Resources. The collaboration consists of supporting Alabama adoptive families. This organization was founded in 1912 by Alabama natives passionate about the welfare of children. The organization now provides services to families that are in need or at risk to help sustain a healthy living environment. APAC is utilizing the facilities at Camp ASCCA for a week this summer. We are so excited to welcome the Camp APAC staff and campers!

At Camp ASCCA, the APAC members have a chance to participate in all available activities. They start off each day with five program rotations. These rotations include: waterslide, zipline, trampoline, demo farm, and many more fun adventures! A special activity the campers will participate in is team building. This allows the campers and staff to use problem solving skills to complete tasks. The campers also have the opportunity to work on talent show acts each evening. Cabins as a whole are able to choregraph and piece together skits, dances, or other talents to perform together. Campers are encouraged to have solo acts as well! The talent show is held at the Big Stage on Thursday night in front of all the whole camp! This is another exciting bonding opportunity for the campers and staff. These activities follow the values of APAC: “Positively impacting the lives of children, youth and their families, and our communities.”

APAC has worked hard teaming up with Camp ASCCA. Due to this pairing, Camp APAC is able to provide recreational therapy and new experiences for the campers. APAC’s ultimate goal is to build families and strengthen the community. They are able to use creative outlets, such as Camp ASCCA, to help the reach this goal. Through Camp APAC, campers are able to meet people who directly relate to their circumstances. Campers are able to freely express themselves, explore new interests, and discover new experiences through camp involvement. Camp ASCCA is grateful for the opportunity to provide resources for Camp APAC!
