Counselor Spotlight: Bradley Johnson

Bradley Johnson is a first time counselor this summer at Camp ASCCA. He is from Motgomery and goes to the University of Alabama in Huntsville where he is a sophomore studying computer science. Bradley learned about Camp ASCCA through his parents who were both counselors here in the early 90’s. His dad worked here a few years and his mom for one year. Bradley became interested in Camp ASCCA while on the hunt for a summer job. His parents told him about their experiences here and Bradley pursued the opportunity.

In the three weeks Bradley has been here, he has learned the ways of camp, and had the pleasure of having five campers. He has learned what it’s like to provide friendship and fun to his campers. “I’ve been able to see others make memories they will never forget,” he says. His favorite thing about camp is standing at the bottom of the waterslide watching the campers come down with huge smiles, and “the look of pure joy.”

This week, Bradley was in a rotation group with Jeanie McClendon, a Camp ASCCA veteran who has been coming to camp for years. In 1991, Bradley’s mom, Amy, was Jeanie’s counselor. How cool is that?

Bradley has done a great job in his first summer at ASCCA and he looks forward to the weeks to come.
