Counselor Spotlight: Janay Mcintosh

Janay Mcintosh is a second year counselor here at Camp ASCCA. Janay is from Millbrook and is currently studying rehabilitation at Troy University. With her degree, she wants to become a job coach for people with disabilities.

Janay heard about camp through her mom, who works at a day center and many of her clients attend Camp ASCCA. Her sister, Tyree, is also in her second year at ASCCA and is a unit leader this year. She wanted to come to camp because she has been helping people with disabilities her whole life and it was a great opportunity for her summer months. Janay’s favorite activity for the campers is the talent show, because they put on their own, unique performance and make it fun for everyone. The campers have taught her, “life is all about being positive and living your life to the fullest.” Janay’s favorite thing at camp is when she has a challenging camper that she able to connect to, and to her it’s not challenging at all. Seeing how campers can change through the years is something special at Camp ASCCA. Janay loves camp and it has changed her life.
