Elvis live at Camp ASCCA!

Tonight we had a very special guest at Camp ASCCA…ELVIS! Our schedules were a little different this week, with our usual Tuesday talent show moved to Wednesday and a “special evening program” scheduled Tuesday evening. No one knew what was going on, all we knew is that there was a surprise! So we all piled in to the Lion’s lodge and anxiously waited for what was to come. There was a microphone on stage, two speakers on either side, a sound board and four “security guards” around the stage. Mr. Matt introduced our guest as “The King,” and shortly after Elvis appeared in his classic white leather jumpsuit.

Our campers went WILD when Elvis began performing “C.C. Rider,” then danced and sang along to “Hound Dog.” Next, Elvis slowed it down with “Love Me Tender,” going through the crowd, singing and taking his scarves off to place around the neck of some of his big fans, then leaving them with a hug or a handshake. The show went on with more hits like “Jailhouse Rock,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” “All Shook Up,” and more. The whole time our campers were full of energy- dancing, singing, and cheering for our guest. Elvis even said we were one of the liveliest groups he’s ever performed for.

A special thanks to our Elvis, Terry Padgett, who made his way to camp from Moody, Alabama. Your act was teriffic and we enjoyed every second of it! We definitely had as much fun in the crowd as you did on stage!
