Epilepsy Foundation-Alabama

We had a special guest visit us at Camp ASCCA on Tuesday and Wednesday. Paige Norris, the outreach program director for the Epilepsy Foundation of Alabama, came to visit our camp for the first time. She got to tour camp, join us for dinner, attend our terrific talent show, stay here overnight, enjoy breakfast and witness our campers having fun participating in zipline and other programs.

Paige is a representative for the Epilepsy Foundation and also works with Camp SMILE in Mobile. The mission of the Epilepsy Foundation is “to lead the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures, and save lives.” The Epilepsy Foundation is sponsoring 12 of our campers for the first session, so they can enjoy therapeutic recreation by way of outdoor and arts programs as well as social interaction with counselors and other campers. Paige started as a counselor herself, so she was reminded of her days at camp having fun with her campers. Paige was in awe of Camp ASCCA- because of our awesome activities for the kids, but also the unity of the staff and care shown by our counselors.

Paige, thank you for visiting and for your efforts to support our special campers.
