Meet the PR Staff: Emily Hedrick

Hey y’all, I’m Emily Hedrick and I’ll be working on the PR team at Camp ASCCA for summer 2016.

I moved to Auburn, Alabama in 2011 from Cumberland, Maryland to attend Auburn University. After taking some classes, I decided public relations was the major for me. The combination of writing, business and personal interaction seemed to be just what I was looking for. I am happy to say I will graduate with a degree in public relations in December 2016. At Auburn I am a member of PRSSA/PRCA and worked with the Young Women Leaders Program. Outside of class you can catch me working as a server or relaxing and listening to bluegrass music.

This spring in one of my classes, my professor, Robert French, announced an available PR internship for the summer at Camp ASCCA. He had worked as a counselor years ago and after hearing his personal testimony, I felt that Camp ASCCA was somewhere I wanted to be this summer, not just for the PR experience, but also for life experience.

I was very anxious to begin camp because I have never attended summer camp, plus this is my first role as a PR professional. This will also be the first time I work closely with people with disabilities. After just one day of orientation I am looking forward to capturing the adventures of our campers and camp staff this summer.

Be sure to check out great content from our PR staff by visiting the website, Facebook, Flickr, Instagram and YouTube.
