Counselor Spotlight: Hope McBride

Hope McBride has spent her last four summers at Camp ASCCA. From right here in Jacksons Gap, Hope attended Benjamin Russel High School and has always had an interest in helping children and adults with disabilities. When she was 15 she found out she could volunteer as a counselor-in-training(CIT), then worked as a senior counselor-in-training(SCIT) the next two summers. This year is Hope’s first year as a counselor. She just graduated in May and plans on attending Central Alabama Community College.

Hope was especially excited for her first session as a counselor when she found out Bella Andrews was going to be one of her campers. Hope and Bella were first together two years ago during Hope’s first year as an SCIT. Hope loves Bella’s personality- always happy and smiling, “she’s always there to give you a hug when you need it,” she says. Bella’s favorite activites at camp are the water activities, such as pool, waterslide and splash pad.

Hope and Bella have had an awesome week together. They will cherish the time they have spent together and they look forward to seeing each other again!
