Dadeville High School Special Education Visits Camp ASCCA

Several students from Dadeville High School added an element of fun to their Halloween by visiting Camp ASCCA for a daylong field trip. The weather could not have been more perfect, and everyone had the opportunity to enjoy the zipline, the trampoline, archery, fishing, and the putt-putt course. Many of the students that visited today are some of our friends who visit us during our summer sessions, so it was great to see them again. Then, we connected with a few new friends in our area who we hope to see next summer.

The fun began this morning at 9 a.m. when a caravan of buses and cars arrived. Once everyone was off the bus and ready to go, the students were split into two groups based on their specific classes. ASCCA staff met with each group and took them to the first programs of the morning, zipline and fishing. Students were encouraged to at least try both activities, and several students conquered their fears at the zipline and enjoyed the ride of a lifetime.

After lunch, the groups headed back out to enjoy the trampoline, archery, and putt-putt. At the trampoline, the groups cheered loud for every student and made sure that it was a fun time for everyone. Archery and putt-putt were also popular as the students were instructed by Outdoor Education Program Specialist Cody Graham on how to use recurve and compound bows, and then once each student had a turn, they headed to the putt-putt course to wind down.

We’d like to thank the students, teachers, and parents of Dadeville High School for making this Halloween one to remember. We all had a blast connecting with students from right down the road, and we hope to see them again soon! Check out more moments from today by visiting our Flickr page here.
