First Full Day of Adventure

Teen Week is off to a daring start here at Camp! After having fun at morning rotations, we planned to take things up a notch for the rest of our day with Free Choice! Sure, there are plenty of mellow things to do — like arts and crafts — for our laid-back campers, but this is also the time when our most exciting activities are open. Sign up activities today included a pontoon boat ride across Lake Martin and the epic Zip Tower. The Tower is very popular with campers who like a challenge. Instead of just gliding down one line, campers get to climb a rock wall up to the platform; if they are not up for the rock wall, campers with certain physical disabilities take a second zip line! Either way, it’s loads of thrilling fun!

We planned to open other exclusive adventure activities after dinner, but the rain had other plans. It poured and thundered the minute everyone was safe in the dining hall, and with a storm like that, outdoor activities were not on the table. We take weather safety very seriously here at Camp, especially since we have friends who use powered wheelchairs! The change of plans wouldn’t get us down, however, because we got to have Casino Night instead! Campers played many classic games of chance in exchange for tokens, with the opportunity to receive even more tokens upon winning. From bingo to roulette, everyone raked in the tokens! Once they gathered enough, campers could trade their tokens for toys and other fun prizes. It was a huge hit! Now that the sky has cleared, it’s time to rest up for tomorrow!
