Friends of ASCCA: It’s a Dream Come True

Happy holidays, readers! This year is off to a wonderful start, and I have so much to tell you about! Before I get to everything that happened over the break though, there’s something I have been absolutely dying to share. This blog took me much longer than I had hoped, so the wait has been really agonizing. 2020 has been so great, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading this as much as I have enjoyed living it.

Now that I’ve spent the entirety of the first paragraph talking it up, I assume you’d like to know what my news is. Well, I found out I’m going to receive a wish from Magic Moments! We had the reveal party late last month, and it was without a doubt one of the best nights ever! Everyone from Magic Moments and the restaurant was so kind and generous, and obviously finding out about the wish was pretty amazing as well. So, what did I wish for?

Well, I have loved this podcast called Welcome to Night Vale for a long time. It’s funny, weird, and the show’s host has a really nice voice. For me, however, the real appeal is the way it gives everyone a character or two that they can relate with. Most writers can’t seem to imagine a world in which someone like me exists, much less has hobbies, love interests, or a fulfilling life. That’s pretty depressing sometimes. So, if I come across something that does exactly that, it makes me feel a bit more hopeful. It lets me know there are those out there, even strangers, who believe in people like me.

So, that’s why I wished to go meet the writers and creators of Welcome to Night Vale! I never thought that wish would be granted, but to my surprise, they agreed to meet me! Magic Moments is flying me to New York City to see them in June, and I could not be more excited! This is really like having two dreams come true at once. Thank you so much to everyone who helped make this happen for me!
