Sports camp goes fishing and skeet shooting

This morning, sports camp got to go fishing and skeet shooting. We all went out to the pond where Cody explained the rules and safety regulations for fishing. Once that was over, campers grabbed a pole and put worms as bait on the line, then went to cast out and try for a fish. We all tried hard to get a bite, but three of our campers caught fish. For Owen and Issac it was the first fish they ever caught! They each gave their fish a kiss and threw it back into the pond.

While some were fishing, one camper at a time had the opportunity to shoot skeet. They were able to shoot with either a 12-gauge or a 20-gauge shotgun and each had five chances to hit the clay pigeon. Everyone had to wear safety glasses and ear plugs, and some used a shoulder pad so it wouldn’t hurt too bad if the gun kicked back. Our campers did a great job trying out shooting the gun and some even hit the skeet! For some campers this was the first time they ever shot a real gun.

Tomorrow sports camp gets to try out archery, so stay tuned to see more awesome pictures of our campers trying new, extreme sports.
