Alabama District Pilot International’s Unwavering Support of Camp ASCCA

Dana Rickman with Governor Laurie Frasier and Governor Elect Lisa Patterson

On April 26, the Alabama District of Pilot International hosted their district convention and invited Director of Development Dana Rickman as a guest speaker.

Dana had the opportunity to share with the Pilots what Camp ASCCA means to people with disabilities, along with heartfelt stories from campers and staff. The Pilots have supported Camp ASCCA for more than 30 years, contributing to both campers and programs.

Pilot International’s mission is to influence positive change in communities throughout the world. To do this, we come together in friendship and service, focusing on encouraging brain safety and health and supporting those who care for others.

In 2013, the Alabama District of Pilot International founded a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) camp for adults—a weekend of fun and fellowship for campers and their caregivers at Camp ASCCA. Each year, Pilots and Pilot Clubs across Alabama raise funds to fully sponsor this camp for 25 campers. During the weekend, participants enjoy arts and crafts, bingo, fishing, golfing, and many other classic camp activities.

We are incredibly grateful for the long-standing partnership we’ve built with the Alabama Pilots. It is through organizations like theirs that we are able to serve so many individuals with disabilities.
