Young Men Bring Hope and Hard work Cross-country

Sometimes, hope is hard work. The men of the national fraternity Pi Kappa Phi can attest to that. The Ability Experience is a cross-country journey across 32 states to raise money and awareness for those with disabilities. Nationally, the fraternity is known for their work and mission to improve facilities that aid and better the lives of these individuals.

The men of the program put forth their efforts into building and rebuilding facilities like Camp ASCCA to improve accessibility. Not only do they put in physical labor, but they also focus on the promotion of inclusivity, accessibility, visibility, and building relationships. For us, Pi Kappa Phi is responsible for many amenities on site. They have put in hours of labor or donated tools and materials for several of our activities such as our fishing pier.

This week, Camp ASCCA had the honor of hosting the 25 young men of this year’s Journey of Hope. The group arrived Wednesday afternoon and left this morning. They were able to experience and see all Camp has to offer! During free choice, they tagged along with us during our activities. They were able to interact with campers and see first-hand the difference their hard work makes. To cap off the night, they joined us at our concert of the week in the BCK4T. It was great to see them dancing and sharing laughs with all of our campers!

To the men of Journey of Hope, thank you for your endless efforts. Thank you for putting in hard work to improve the lives of those that are nearest and dearest to our hearts. Your gifts and dedication to ASCCA through the years has been hugely influential in accomplishing more than you will know! Continue the good you are doing in our community. Your continued support helps us sustain our mission and makes all the difference!
