Mysteries, Puzzles and Surprises

Tonight’s activities were Pool Party (Davis, Cheaha, Chickasaw and Moundville) and Mysteries, Puzzles and Surprises (Choctaw, Crow, Redstick, Creek and Cherokee).

Mysteries, Puzzles and Surprises, created by program intern Sam Pecklam, is our theme game for this week! Each cabin received a map of 8 activities located at various areas around camp and each activity had a different number of points that the cabin could earn. As an additional surprise there were 3 program staff hidding close to the activity locations. So the cabins were to keep a close eye out and if they found them they had to get their signature to recieve the points.

The cabin with the most points wins and those points go towards Honor Cabin points! Now that is a prize worth fighting for!!

The 8 activities were:

“What’s in the Bag?”

1 camper put their hand in a brown paper bag and had to describe
what they felt inside in the bag to the rest of their cabin. When guessed correctly another camper came forward and picked up another bag. There were 5 bags worth 1 point a piece.

“Name that Tune”

A song was played and they had to guess what movie it was from, as well as the title of the song. Each song guessed correctly earned a point.
“Crack the Code”
This was one of the more challenging games. There were various slips of paper with hiddent messages and different size tubes, sticks, etc. The cabins had to match the correct slip of paper to the correct stick so that they could decipher the hidden message on each slip of paper. Each message decipher earned them a point.
“Charades”
Charades is always a fun game to play, especially when you are racing the clock. Each cabin chose a camper/counselor team to act out different camp activities that were written on slips of paper so the rest of their cabin could guess. Each activity successfully guessed by their cabin within the alotted time frame earned them a point.

“Two Truths and a Lie”
A program staff member gave each cabin 3 statements(at a time) about camp, 2 of which were true and 1 was not. As a team the cabin had to choose which statement was not true, for every one guessed correctly they recieved a point.
“I Spy”

There were various containers with rice and other objects inside. Each cabin passed around the containers and named a different object they could “spy” inside. For each object found earned them a point.

“Guess Who”
A program staff member chose a counselor and 1 camper would guess certain characteristics, such as, brown hair, blue eyes, hat, not hat, etc. until they can narrow it down and guess the counselor. Each correct guess earned them a point.

It is no surprise that we have had a GREAT day here at Camp ASCCA and a night full of fun!
